George Dutton is a professor in the UCLA Department of Asian Languages and Cultures where he specializes in early modern through early colonial Vietnamese history. These include courses on Southeast Asian religions in contemporary society, on 20th-century Southeast Asian literature, and on Zomia, which involves critical issues relating to upland ethnic communities in mainland Southeast Asia and Southwest China.
We'll be hiking past Echo Mountain, hopefully up to Inspiration Point, depending on snow conditions. This will be a longer-trail, ~8-10 miles and ~2000-3000ft of elevation so come prepared! Water, sunscreen, and snacks are a must, and we will be stopping for lunch mid-way through.
Trip Lead: Alexander Swerdlow
