Start: March 7, 2026 · 8:30 AM

End: March 7, 2026 · ~12:30 PM

Kick off your Saturday with a refreshing 2.9-mile hike along the City, Lake, and Valley View, Summit Ridge & Scrub Jay Loop. This moderate trail features approximately 646 feet of elevation gain and takes about 2 hours to complete. Along the way, enjoy scenic overlooks, steady climbs, and a peaceful outdoor setting, the perfect balance of movement, conversation, and weekend reset.

Joining us on the trail is Stepfanie M. Aguillón, Assistant Professor in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of California, Los Angeles. Professor Aguillón is an evolutionary biologist whose research explores how reproductive isolation evolves in nature. She integrates genomic sequencing and behavioral ecology, with a focus on naturally hybridizing species and how behavior shapes genetic patterns across landscapes. Her work also contributes to conservation-related research, connecting evolutionary biology with real-world environmental challenges.

Whether you're interested in evolution, genomics, conservation biology, or simply enjoying a morning outdoors with fellow Bruins, this is a hike you won’t want to miss.
