End: March 1, 2026 ~2:00pm

Get a taste of Hollywood stardom with this breathtaking 8 mile hike from the Griffith Observatory to the Hollywood Sign. This moderately challenging trail has a cumulative total of 575 feet of elevation change. You're definitely gonna enjoy taking in the panoramic views of DTLA, the Greater Los Angeles Basin, and the Pacific Ocean! Who knows? Maybe you'll even spot your favorite celebrity!

Joining us on the trail is Catharina E. Santasilia, Ph.D., the Rock Art Archive Manager in the UCLA Cotsen Graduate Institute of Archaeology. Cat earned her doctorate in Anthropology at UC Riverside as well as a Master's in Native American studies and Bachelor's in Egyptology from the University of Copenhagen, Denmark. Jordan, Switzerland, Belize, and Egypt are just a few of the numerous places she has conducted archaeological excavation work. Her dissertation focused on Tlatilco, a culture buried beneath modern-day Mexico City. The courses that she has taught range from archaeology to medical anthropology. In addition to her work at the Cotsen, she is currently the editorial assistant for an atlas of Easter Island.
