2/7 Malibu Lake Vista Trail and Yearling Trail Loop with Kaily Heitz

Join us for a nice 4.2 mile hike that offers great bird-watching opportunities and a stunning view of Malibu Lake! This hike will be moderately challenging with an 816ft elevation gain, but it'll be worth it to hear the dulcet tones of hawks and meadowlarks. We're going to traverse some small creeks and muddy areas, so bring good shoes!

Joining us for this hike is Professor Kaily Heitz, a geographer and professor at UCLA's College of Social Sciences. Her research examines the relationship between race, political-economic structures of inequality, and spatial justice. As a black woman studying community-based responses to displacement and inequitable city planning, Professor Heitz has a lot of insight to offer during these turbulent times.
