12/6: Solstice Canyon Trail w/ Dave Daversa

Updated: 4 days ago

Start: December 6, 2025 9:30am

End: December 6, 2025 12:00pm

Join us on this stunning 3.0-mile loop trail near Malibu! Highlights include breathtaking ocean views, stone ruins preserved through more than 100 years of wildfires, and some natural waterfalls and creeks. Generally considered a moderately challenging loop with about 700ft of elevation change, his shady trail is a great way to enjoy mountain views, breezes, and a good amount of incline.

Also joining this hike is Dr. Dave Daversa from the UCLA Institute of Environment & Sustainability. Dr. Daversa researches the non-lethal effects that global change has on wild animals, and is especially interested in behavioral and physiological responses to stressors. He is currently working on projects studying the disease risk in Yosemite toads, the effects of human activity on ageing in western toads, and the long-term effects of human noise on health and survival of western fence lizards. You won’t want to miss this chance to chat with Dr. Daversa about amphibians, academia, and life!
