Join us on this 1.7 mile loop trail through in El Scorpion Park, located in West Hills! This is a moderate trail that takes us to the Cave of Munits. We plan to be here for about 2 hours so we can include stops along the way. El Scorpion Park is a beautiful green space with rocks, hills, oak trees, and of course, the Cave of Munits. This trail is near and dear to my heart because this was my dog Sugar's favorite place to run off-leash, especially while watching the sunrise. After all the rain, it's super green right now, so it's the perfect time to visit! This trail connects all throughout the park, so we can hike for however long as we like and explore other connecting trails, as well.
We will be hiking with Gabby Lupola, my amazing TA for Asian American Pacific Islander Studies (AAPI) at UCLA, where she is getting her Masters of Arts in Asian American Studies. She is from Guam and is very involved in organizations for indigenous students, especially Pacific Islanders. Gabby is sweet, passionate, and extremely knowledgeable about the history and dynamics of Pacific Islanders. I especially love learning from her, as I can connect to my ties to Hawaii and hula!
