Join us for a 4.0 mile loop in Temescal Canyon with a moderate incline of 1,100 feet up to Skull Rock! The hike is decently shaded, with sweeping views of the Pacific Palisades and LA. Make sure to bring snacks, water, and sunscreen for the 2.5 hour hike!
Joining us on the hike will be Professor Helen Rees, director of the World Music Center and a professor of ethnomusicology with specialization in music of China. Besides extensive fieldwork and archival research of music in southwest China and Shanghai, she is also an expert flautist. Join us to learn more about Professor Rees' journey from her musical roots in Britain to being one of the first foreigners to study traditional Chinese music in Shanghai teahouses!
