For our first hike of the year, join us for a fun excursion to Griffith Park! This is an impressive 5.1 mile moderate out-and-back trail with 850 feet of elevation gain. The hike is exposed, so make sure to bring lots of water, sunscreen, and snacks and then get ready to slowly climb your way up to a fantastic view of both the Hollywood Sign, the Los Angeles skyline and the observatory itself!
Joining us on this hike is Professor Ryan Harrigan, an assistant professor of the Institute of the Environment and Sustainability, and Post-Doctoral Researcher Cristian Gruppi. Ryan studies evolutionary biology and ecology and has published many papers on the topic. His current research focuses on migratory birds, and Cri is helping to head that project as well. They're sure to have lots of fun bird facts to share on the hike and are also excited to chat about other aspects of science, the outdoors, graduate school or just life in general!
Trip Lead: Sierra Hagen
The first (and only) wave of sign-ups opens at noon on Wednesday October 13th.
