For one of our first hikes of the new year, get out of Westwood and join us for a fun excursion to the Angeles National Forest! Trail Canyon Falls is a moderate out and back trail that totals 4.5 miles and 990 ft. of elevation gain. It features 8 water crossings and a large waterfall that's largely expanded due to all the recent rain. Water, sunscreen, and snacks are a must and we'll make sure to stop for lunch to take time to enjoy the scenic waterfall and river.
Joining us on this hike is a returning professor, Will Conley, who has been on many of our hikes and was one of the first professors to hike with Peaks! He's a professor in the Mathematics Department here at UCLA and is well loved by his students, boasting impressive Bruinwalk ratings and previously receiving the "My Last Lecture Award". His research focuses on topics such as number theory and automorphic forms. Will is also interested in all things outdoors and can often be found at the climbing wall in the Wooden Center! Basically, this is a unique opportunity to get off campus, chat with a professor in a more casual setting, and go on an awesome hike so you don't wanna miss it!
