For our first hike of the year, get out of Westwood and join us for a fun excursion to the San Gabriel Mountains! Bridge to Nowhere is a longer out and back trail that totals 9.5 miles and 1,200 ft. of elevation gain. It features river crossings, a historic bridge, and diverse terrain from wooded areas to scrub brush. Last time Peaks did this hike was back in Fall of 2019 and even after all this time it's still one of our favorites! Water, sunscreen, and snacks are a must since this is a longer trip. We'll make sure to stop for lunch to take time to enjoy the scenic bridge and river.
Joining us on this hike is a returning professor, Will Conley, who has been on many of our hikes and was one of the first professors to hike with Peaks! He's a professor in the Mathematics Department here at UCLA and is well loved by his students, boasting impressive Bruinwalk ratings and previously receiving the "My Last Lecture Award". His research focuses on topics such as number theory and automorphic forms. Will is also interested in all things outdoors and can often be found at the climbing wall in the Wooden Center! Basically, this is a unique opportunity to get off campus, chat with a professor in a more casual setting, and go on an awesome hike so you don't wanna miss it!
